Luis Ruiz-Ávila

PhD Molecular Biologist with 10 years in academia before moving to industry in 1998. Became CEO of Advancell in 2001 (first University of Barcelona biomedical spinoff) and has since worked as executive, entrepreneur, or investor in 15+ companies, raising over 40M€ to advance academic research into clinical-stage projects, with several exits and licensing deals. Author of 30+ peer-reviewed papers, 8 patents, and books on biomedical business, he is Associate professor at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, where he directs the Master’s in Biomedical Business Management. Besides his role at Iteria, serves as CEO of Leukos Biotech (phase I/II oncology product), and as board member, business angel, or advisor for various Biotech/Medtech companies, venture funds, and acceleration programs.
